Champions in the Wilderness

Champions In The WildernessHave you ever felt as though you were navigating desolate spiritual territory? Do you find yourself parched, wondering why your spiritual life seems so dry? You are not alone! The reasons we enter a spiritual wilderness may be many, but one thing is certain, our heavenly Father wants us all to emerge as flourishing champions of the Christian faith.

What is it that marks the difference between a resounding victory in the wilderness and a total disaster? It all comes down to understanding the nature of our journey and responding in a manner that honors God. The fifty-two devotional readings of this book will both challenge and inspire you to grow in God’s grace, helping you to break free from unhealthy mindsets that keep you shackled in a subpar spiritual existence. Why are you waiting? There is no better time to begin than right now!

We all have gone through rough times  at some point in our lives, we all know what it feels like when our spiritual life feels dry.  Those are the times when we feel like we are being hit from all sides  or totally devoid of emotion and wondering why?
In one chapter titled “If God is for us, why is so much against us’?  What an apt title, how many times have you felt this way?   I love how Mr. Santos uses his illustrations, and shows us that we are not the only ones facing hard times, and that God is using circumstances that while Satan is trying to break us, He is using those times to strengthen us.  There will always be some sort of trying time in our lives.
In his book Champions in the Wilderness, Bob Santos helps bring us through those times.    This book is called a devotional, but to me it's more of a daily lesson, it goes deeper than most devotionals, with probing questions,  actions steps, plenty of scripture and more.
This is a book that I will keep on my desk, and look at every day, ponder what Mr.  Santos has written and remember that God loves you and me always.

Many thanks to Book Crash, and to Mr. Santos,  yes, the book did arrive at a time when I needed it most.

Bible Revival

Bible Revival: Recommitting Ourselves to One Book - By: Kenneth Berding
Bible Revival passionately explores why the Bible needs to be the single most important book in the Christian’s life—and how to make it so. Unlike most books about the Bible, Berding digs deep to uncover the motivations and distractions that keep Christians from engaging with the Bible as richly as it can. But he does more than just point out the problems; he lovingly offers solutions in order to learn, value, understand, apply, obey, and speak the Bible.

What is the most important book we as Christians own?  The Bible, what is the book that is the least read?  The Bible!   The Bible is our key to life, our map to how to live our lives to glorify our Lord and Savior.

Mr. Berding has done a wonderful job of bringing us back to the Bible, (for those of us who confess to know Christ as savior), and this is a wonderful book for those who are new Christians, or even for those that may be seeking.

I do love the questions at the back of each chapter, and the how to apply the word chapter.  It is one thing to read, and another to apply God's word to our lives.

This is a wonderful book, and will be one I read and reread many times.

The Third Day

"The Third Day" is the first in a range of short graphic-novel-style books faithfully illustrating the unadorned text of the gospel of Luke. It has a gritty, contemporary feel to it that is far removed from the clean, bright, graphic versions of the Bible already available for younger children. This resource will introduce the biblical account of Easter to teens and young adults who enjoy reading illustrated graphic media.

This is a great little book.  It isn't long to read, no more than 22 pages in length.  It gives the account of the "Easter" story,  so it is a great time for a review on this book.   The "Easter" story is the account of Christ's crucifixion.   It is written in full scripture, taken right from Luke chapters 22 through 24.

The Third Day
It is in an easy to read, comic book format, which is a wonderful way to get the attention of all ages.   I think that this would be a great little gift for churches to give out after service on Easter Sunday.

Guiltless Living

Through captivating stories, edgy humor, and shocking confessions, Ginger Hubbard drops the act and gets real in this brutally honest look at the seldom admitted, rarely talked about sins of the heart. Removing her "good Christian" mask, Ginger opens the dark chapters of her heart in order to share about the glorious grace of God toward repentant sinners. Get ready to laugh. Get ready to cry. Get ready for a deeper, more authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. This is what real Christianity is all about.

This is a very entertaining book on how to live a good Christian life.  Ginger Hubbard really makes dig deep and think about yourself as you read this book.   Every personal illustration she gives makes you squirm and think "is this me"?

Ms. Hubbard covers a variety of "sins" that we all are guilty of, from being critical to controlling to proud.  I do like the illustration of leaving a tip in the miserly serial sinner, where the Christians don't tip well or tip at all.   I think that most of us don't realize that we are being watched by the world, and we must always think what our actions will be perceived as by unsaved people.

In the back there is a bible study guide for each chapter.

This is a very good book, I highly recommend it.
