Through the Deep Waters

The story begins in Chicago, in the year 1883, we are brought into the life of sixteen year old Dinah, a daughter of a prostitute raised in a brothel.   When she learns of her mother’s deathly illness, she must make some big decisions for her life. 

As she begins her new life in Florence, Kansas, she has taken on a job of chambermaid, hoping that her dark secret of a horrible decision doesn’t get exposed, as she has sights on becoming a server for Mr. Harvey’s hotels.

When a young farmer shows her favor she must make more decisions with her life, should she accept his attention? Or should she keep her goal to be a server.

This is the first book by Kim Vogel Sawyer I have read, and I must say it will not be my last.   This is an amazing story of redemption, God’s love for us, and forgiveness.    I was excited that the gospel was given, and plenty of scripture. 

  A book about relationships and overcoming bad circumstances. 

 

The book was very easy to read, and Ms. Sawyer seemed to understand post-traumatic stress, which I could sense in the character Dinah as we read through her story.

I highly recommend this book on your summer reading list.
