Blossom Street Brides

From the back of the book:

Lauren Elliott has waited years for her long-term boyfriend, Todd, to propose, yet he seems more focused on his career than their relationship. When Lauren learns that her younger sister is pregnant before she herself even has an engagement ring, she feels overjoyed yet disheartened. Knowing she can’t put her future on hold, Lauren prepares to make a bold choice—one that leads her to a man she never dreamed she’d meet.
Newly married to her second husband, Max, Bethanne Scranton is blissfully in love. But with Max’s job in California and Bethanne’s in Seattle, their long-distance marriage is becoming difficult to maintain. To complicate matters, Bethanne’s cunning ex will do anything to win her back.
Lydia Goetz, too, is wonderfully happy with her husband, Brad, though lately she worries about the future of A Good Yarn. As she considers how to bring in business, she discovers that someone has beaten her to the punch. Baskets of yarn are mysteriously popping up all over town, with instructions to knit a scarf for charity and bring it into Lydia’s store. Never before has her shop received so much attention, but who hatched this brilliant plan?
As three women’s lives intersect in unexpected ways, Lydia, Lauren, and Bethanne realize that love heals every heart, and the best surprises still lay ahead.

This is a truly enjoyable book, it revolves around  women brought together by one baby blanket in a yarn shop window.   Written by author Debbie Macomber, it will keep you on the edge of your seat, and draws you into the lives of these women.     I have never read a book by Debbie Macomber before, but will put her on my list of must read authors.

If you want an enjoyable, easy to read, hard to put down book for the summer this is it.    It is a good Christian book,  and I guarantee you will fall in love with the characters.

Heart Wide Open

You believe in God. You’re trying to serve Him.
But do you know how to truly love Him—and let Him love you?

As a Bible-believing churchgoer, author Shellie Tomlinson harbored a secret in her good-girl heart. She longed for something more than routine faith; she wanted to love God with a genuine, all-consuming passion. So she got honest with Him: “I admit it. I don’t love you like I should, but I want to love you. Help me!”

In Heart Wide Open, Shellie invites you to answer the call of your restless heart and refuse to settle for anything less than the intimate friendship of God. Through her heartfelt and honest words, you’ll find practical inspiration to help you…
·   exchange your “just enough Jesus” mindset for an all-out pursuit of Him
·   put sizzle in your Bible study by asking God to show you the wonder of His Word
·   trade formulaic devotions for a devoted life

How often do we feel like we have wandered from God, and felt that emptiness that takes place when we do?   How many of us have felt I want to love God more and not know how or where to go?

In this book we are shown how and where to find answers to these questions.  How to become more in love with our Lord and Savior.  This book is filled with scripture and encouragement to become closer to Him.

The author has taken the reader through, the process of loving Him, to finding our quiet time with God, dealing with the world and unbelievers.   In the back of the book there are study questions that would would make this book a great personal or group Bible Study.

Memorial: The Mystery of Mary of Bethany

THE MYSTERY OF MARY OF BETHANYFrom the back of the book: It seems everyone loves a mystery story, but it's a rare thing to find a mystery story combined with Bible Study.  Dolores Kimball brings these together and draws out lessons for life that have a special relevance for women.

Mary, there are many Mary's in the Bible, but the one that is the least known is Mary of Bethany.  When we get to know her as we read about her and her sister Martha, we find out that most of us ladies tend to be more like her sister.   In this book we are travel through the Bible, learning more about this woman, her love for her Lord, and how we can become more like her.

This book is full of scripture, and teaches us a very important fact: we need to be like Mary.  We need to sit at our Lord's feet and put the busyness of the day behind us, lock out the world and tune in Jesus!

Very well written, well researched, and intriguing to read.   I recommend this book, and would use this book in a women's Bible study.

Combating the Lies of Satan

"Satan is on a rampage; he has inundated our world with a multiplicity of dangerous lies and is convincing men to feast on them while rejecting God’s holy Word. However, even though Satan’s concocting these lies, man is not an innocent party to this deception; Satan may be spreading lies, but man entertains them of his own volition and perpetuates them. Man is electing to reject God and the doctrinal teachings of the Bible; he prefers to indulge teachings that ?agrantly contradict Scripture. Man is Satan’s accomplice; he is complicit and culpable because he disregards the Word of God and chooses lies over truth.
Average people have no clue they’re being deceived by a clever and diabolical spirit. Satan’s deception and cleverness are so astute that he’s convinced many to believe the lie that he doesn’t exist. However, he does exist, and the purpose of this book is to expose him, his lies, and his deceptions and to expose, refute, and combat the numerous deadly lies so prevalent in our world today that many have embraced.
Much in this book will be seen by many as controversial and politically incorrect, but this book is factual and biblically sound; it will equip you with knowledge and insights from the Word of God to prevent you from falling prey to Satan’s deceptions.
God loves you, Jesus died for you, and it is my prayer that you carefully consider and investigate everything in this book and make the crucial decision to believe God and His Word versus Satan and his lies."

This is a well written book about how we are being deceived by Satan and how to learn his ways in order to combat them.

In this day and age Satan is on a rampage to deceive both believers and unbelievers.  He does a very good job, as most people don't understand the warfare that we go through on a day to day basis.   This book helps out line the deceptions of Satan, and how to combat some of his ideas.   The Bible is our true defense, but this book will open your eyes and certainly make you blow the dust off the Bible.

The author has done a thorough research and knows her Bible facts well.  This book will open your eyes to the spiritual battle we face every day.  From the deceptions that quietly slip in to our lives through media, and other ways.  It will shock the reader to find out how deceptive Satan can be.   This book will certainly turn you to the Good Book, the Bible to learn more about the enemy we face.

The one thing that I didn't like is that Ms. White tells us that she has her "ministral" degree and actively preaches on youtube.  In my personal conviction, and how I interpret the Bible, it tells me that women should not be preachers,  so I would not take everything at word value, but double check with the accurate truth the Bible.
