This is a well-written novel with interesting characters that the reader will easily identify with.   This is my first novel from Robin Caroll, and it won't be my last.  I truly enjoyed her writing and the plot for this novel was interesting.

Not only a mystery but a story about forgiving as well.   A wonderful read for those who love a good mystery and suspense book.

Behind the Scenes: Robin Caroll Shares Her Inspiration for Writing Stratagem Dear Reader, Thank you for journeying to New Orleans in a web of deceit and confusion with me. Sharing a place that has such connection for me was a pure joy. South Louisiana offers such a laid-back attitude that I often miss “home.” I hope you’ll enjoy sampling a taste of the flavor of Louisiana. Years ago I watched the movie The Game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn and was enthralled. There’s just something grabbing about messing with a person’s mind and life by using their own feelings and instincts against them. When this story of Stratagem first began forming, I wanted to use all that intrigue to mess up the game master’s life. The end result is quite the ride! As the characters came alive to me, I found the theme of forgiveness and acceptance coming out in the story. Some of the emotions within this story are very personal to me, and I’m honored I was able to share them with you. It is my wish that you may be touched by Grayson’s faith journey as well. Until next time. . . -Robin

Secrets ~Giveaway ~

About the Book

Book: Secrets
Author: Beckie Lindsey
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: February, 2018

Every girl has a secret she hopes the light will never find–but the demons already have.
Four girls. Four sets of secrets. Four searching for answers.
Mackenzie is the shy, awkward new girl at school, depressed and desperate for a real friend. When she stumbles upon the deepest secret of a sarcastic, angry-at-the-world track star, Krystal, they become instant enemies-especially about the flirtatious baseball player, Bryce.
Tammi, a gloomy singer/musician who couldn’t care less about what others think of her, meets Sadie, a dancer and a people-pleaser with a cotton candy disposition. They have nothing in common until their lives begin to collide in more ways than one.
As the girls’ worlds begin to converge, their secrets rather than their similarities draw them together. Meanwhile, all that’s kept hidden has left them vulnerable to a battle in an invisible realm where demonic creatures fight to keep the girls chained to their pasts while angels of light work to free them.
Can good ever come from evil? Can beauty ever arise from ashes?

My Thoughts:  This is an amazing story of how  4 teenage girls deal not only with every day teenage issues, but with a war with demons.  There is a war waging around us that we can not see and this book illustrates this extremely well.  Do we think of where our bad moods and thoughts come from?  This is an intense and creative novel that truly illustrates what goes on in a realm that we cannot see.   This novel teaches us that with God, we can be set free from our past and win the battle against evil.

In this story-line,  not only did the girls had to deal with some issues from their past, from abuse, arents dealing with depression and alcoholism;  they had their usual teenage issues to deal with as well.    We as readers learn how they all came together to face these demons controlling them and winning the war.

While reading this book, it made me think what is happening around me when I have a bad thought or a bad mood; those demons in this book will come to my mind to remind me that all I need to do is turn to God in prayer.

The unbelievers are given the gospel and learn how to trust in God and learn how prayer works in their lives.

This was an amazing book, those who enjoy reading about the spiritual realm around us will certainly enjoy this book as much as I did.    I am looking forward to her next book in the Beauty from the Ashes series "The Uninvited".

Guest Post from Beckie

Why I write YA and the BFA series By Beckie Lindsey I believe a teenager still exists inside each of us. We hear a familiar tune from our “glory days” and are instantly tapping our toes. Mentally, we’re back in high school —poofy bangs, scrunchie, neon off-the-shoulder sweatshirt — and all. Oh, wait. That’s me back in the ‘80s! Ah, yes. There is something wonderfully awful about those coming-of-age years. From the first kiss to the first breakup, there are memories we cherish and some we don’t care to ever revisit. Being a teen can be exciting, confusing, painful, joyous, or even all of those things at once! No matter how different your teenage experience was from mine, one thing is true for us all: these years have an enormous impact on who we become as adults. We can all sympathize with the plight of puberty and the longing for independence and acceptance. Yeah, there’s still a teenager in all of us! These are the reasons I write YA. My hope is to use the power of storytelling to move past barriers and open hearts to accept how much God loves and desires a personal relationship with us. At every age, we all need the grace and love of Jesus. In the Beauties from Ashes (BFA) series, I write about relatable characters with difficult issues and traumatic pasts to enlighten readers about the unseen spiritual battle referred to in Scripture. Each character has a secret that has left them vulnerable to the battle in an invisible realm where demonic creatures fight to keep them chained to their pasts and angels of light work to free them. The characters and their issues are complex, just like real life. In fact, some of the topics are often considered too taboo to talk about openly. But what is left in the dark, festers and grows. It is only in the light that we can be free. In the BFA series, readers experience the character’s quest for truth, love, grace, and freedom while hopefully finding the same for themselves.

The Unannounced Christmas Visitor ~ Giveaway~

About the Book

Book: The Unannounced Christmas Visitor
Author: Patrick Higgins
Genre: Christian fiction/Christmas
Release Date: November 18, 2014

What if angels really did come from the most unlikely of places? That’s exactly what happens in this heartwarming story, set in a homeless community in Anywhere USA. Sent to Planet Earth by his Maker, disguised as a homeless person, Enoch was on a mission: to rescue a man whose life was slowly but steadily spiraling out of control Inspired by Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it,”  this story will stir your soul like never be afore, guaranteed!  2016 IPA (INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHER AWARDS) GOLD MEDAL AWARD WINNER.

My Thoughts: This novel is certainly a winner!  It comes just in time for the holiday and Christmas season, reminding us how important hospitality and loving others is.  It's not about receiving but in giving from the heart.   Patrick Higgins has done an incredible job of showing us through his writing how important it is to give to others.   How we need to have the love of God in us in order to feel complete.   This novel truly moved me and it will certainly speak to those who are feeling lost, depressed or not knowing their God-given purpose.

This book will make the reader think twice about how society treats the homeless and what would your church do if a homeless person came into the church next Sunday?  Patrick Higgins hit a lot of points in this book and I recommend that every Christian give this book a read.

Christmas Love Year Round ~Giveaway~

About the Book

Book: Christmas Love Year Round
Author: Elaine Stock
Genre: Christian romance, sweet romance
Release Date: September 25, 2018

Cami Richardson is good at chasing away the men in her life: first Gavin Kinkaid, a former classmate she’d helped to bully, and later, her husband who left her widowed and a single mom. Now all she wants is to bring a smile back to her eight-year-old son. What she doesn’t expect is for Gavin to become her new neighbor.
Gavin wants to settle down after serving in the Air Force and mend the separation between him and his dad. What he didn’t count on is his changing feelings when he sees Cami as a kind woman instead of his former adversary.
When Cami’s son blindsides them both during the Christmas season, is their reunion at risk or will it grow stronger?

My Thoughts: A wonderful book just in time for the holidays!    This book was an enjoyable read that is full of many lessons.   This novel is not only about family, forgiveness and letting go, but also about bullying and what it can create.  Bullying, name calling is something I believe we have all faced at one time in our lives.   Beautifully written with a flowing storyline that keeps the reader interested.

The characters are interesting, down to earth and easy to relate to.   This is an enjoyable romance novel with lessons to learn that the reader can read during the holiday season or any time of the year!  I look forward to reading more from  Elaine Stock.

Guest Post from Elaine

To love someone with all of your heart is the only thing that matters in this world. Readers often ask the origin of a story idea. When I wrote my first published novel, Always With You, I was asked if my husband was a white supremacist. No! When Her Good Girl released, the questions of whether my mother practiced Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy popped up as well. Although my mother, unfortunately, did suffer another mental illness, it wasn’t MSP. And now Christmas Love Year Round, Book 1 of the Kindred Lake romance series, is on sale. What does fuel my writing? What is a connecting theme between the stories I write? Love. Love is the most essential relationship we must share between all…between family members, friends, neighbors…between strangers, enemies, those who live differently than us, and foreign countries. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35 (NIV) Yet, isn’t honest love the hardest thing to do? Perhaps it is also the most difficult virtue to teach and the most vexing passion to express. Imagine this scenario: You’re a widowed mom with an impressionable eight-year-old son. Your conscience is riddled with the worry that you might have pushed your husband toward his death, and that’s on top of the weight bearing down on you from your childhood days of participating with others to bully a particular family in town. Then, the one boy who was part of that picked-upon family, now a grown man and stirringly handsome purchases the house across the street from you. You’ll likely see him every day. And, with a gulp, you realize…that you want to see him. That actually, despite all that transpired between the two of you back in high school, you’re Attracted to him with a Capital A. Might that magnetism between the two of you be mutual? This is the set-up between Cami and Gavin in Christmas Love Year Round. Will these two former adversaries forgive not only each other but themselves as well and take loving one’s neighbor to the next step of falling in love and making amends into amens? May each of you be blessed with love and joy year round!
