A Thousand Shall Fall

Read an excerpt from the book

In this novel we are taken back to the autumn of the year 1864. The novel takes place during the American Civil war.    We meet the main Character Carrie Ann Bell, who has fled her home in search of her runaway sister Sarah.   Carrie Ann disguises herself as a Yankee soldier and soon finds herself in  the midst of a skirmish near Front Royal.  Instead of finding her sister, Carrie Ann finds herself arrested for impersonating an officer.

This novel is full of romance, suspense, and historical facts.  The author has done a lot of good research, and it shows.   This novel shows the reader what it was like back during the civil war, how the people felt, through the characters.

I enjoyed this book immensely.  It shows how one's character can change when they accept Christ, it is full of Christian value, and it gives a great feel for how the people suffered during the civil war.

This book comes highly recommended.

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible

This is an interesting new version of the Bible, the authors have taken people from the Bible, and have presented them in a super hero style. you will be introduced to people like Faith Man, The Runner (Jonah), my favorite, Dreadlocks, (Samson), Rainman (Noah) and there are many more that make up the Bible.

This is a very unique format, that will interest kids of all ages. I feel it could be used to lead some into reading their Bibles more, after sparking their interests in this unique style. I would use this in a Sunday School setting, to help teach some lessons, giving a great new twist on the lessons, or even at home for a different type of devotion time.

Exploring Christian Theology Volume One

Theology, when people think of the subject, they think "boring" I'll never get through
it.  In reality, theology is just the teaching of God's word, and an important
topic to learn about.

The author's have done a good job of teaching in this volume.  They have brought it down into terms we can understand, and make it come clear.

I like the format of this book, not only can one learn on their own, but this book can be used in a class room situation, for a Bible study,or other group situation.

Each topic is given an introduction, overview and a review of the key points. Memory verses are given as well as any distortions of doctrine that may be taught.

Renewing Your Mind

Renewing Your Mind (Victory Series Book #4): Become More Like Christ: Volume 4

This is a Bible study for those who are going through a process of hurting.  It takes you though the process of hurting, how to deal with worry, loss, and depression.

I like that the author takes scripture and applies it to our lives, makes you search inwardly and apply it.

This would be a good book to use in a counseling situation, or with a group of people who are hurting.

Everything Counts

Author Steven Chase has written a wonderful devotional book for teens.

He has done a delightful job in making use of Oswald Chambers Utmost for His Highest, using this and building upon it, to make a devotional that teens will surely enjoy.
I appreciate his format, where Mr. Chase writes his thoughts, then he moves into what Mr. Oswald has on paper, and then a spot where to ponder between yourself and God.
This is a devotional, filled with boundless information for teens.   It would be great on a one on one basis, or used in a group situation.
It has an attractive cover, and and apt title.
