Warfare Praying

In this updated book, Mark Bubeck teaches us how to recognize who our adversary is, and how to defeat him with spiritual warfare prayer.  this book is a helpful tool that helps the believer to state or vocalize the truth in prayer.  Most of us know the armor of God, and Mr. Bubeck takes us through each one; giving us a guide for victory.
He shows the reader how to use one of our most powerful weapons; prayer to defeat our enemy.  Mr. Bubeck shows us through praying doctrinal prayers we can overcome anything that our enemy will throw at us.

In this book, we see Mr. Bubeck's Biblical wisdom, some personal illustrations or stories that come together to show us and teach us about our spiritual warfare.

This book is very insightful and very much worth reading.  We are a huge battle every day.  It surrounds us, we live in a world enclosed in sin.    With our fallen nature, we live encircled by adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, heresies, witchcraft, hatred, inconsistency, emulations, anger, discord, envying, murders, drunkenness, it’s in our faces every day.  Through media, our schools, the internet, movies, television.

This world is Satan’s kingdom.  The world would love to dictate our values and try to pressure us into its mold.  With Mr. Bubeck's book in hand, we can learn how to defeat this enemy and win this battle.

I highly recommend this book for all believers.

In Bloom

Most women that I know seem to deal with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy.  In today’s world of advertising, social media we are in a culture that is fueled by makeover shows, celebrities, and advertising that tells us how to dress, how to look and how to live.   Most of the average day to day women have been hurt by the lasting memories of mean girls, or by other events much more wounding to the soul, we can become accustomed by self-doubt that it becomes ingrained to our self-image and thinking.

The focus of this book is to retrain our thoughts and to take another look at who God has created and how much He loves us and because He loves us we can love ourselves.

Kayla Aimee has written a book that many women can relate to.  As you read the book you feel like she has reached into your own life and pulled out hidden feelings that you may not even realize are there, until you think yes, I’ve been there and felt that too.

Kayla Aimee has written a funny story using her own transformation from the self-doubt and inadequacy using examples from her own day to day life.   In this book, she opens the way for women to:

• Identify the deep-seated sources of our assumed inadequacy and replace them with steadfast truths of scriptural affirmation.
• Replace our need for approval with the enduring promise of acceptance.
• Uncover our purpose, unlock our potential, and celebrate the God-given gifts in our unique personality.

This book is for every woman who longs for belonging, they will journey through Kayla’s writing and the biblical promises.

What I enjoyed about this book is the fact that the writer is so easy to identify with.  I found myself in many of the examples of her own life that she wrote about and that made it so much easier to understand that I am not the only one dealing with accepting myself and who I am.

Any woman dealing with insecurities of any type would really appreciate this book.  It is written by a woman who has been there, written in a warm, friendly way that invites the reader in and makes them feel welcomed.

At the back of the book is a study guide, so that this book can be read and discussed as a group or individually.

Graciousness

There are times when we have important things to say to other Christians and unbelievers but if we present our message ungraciously, they won’t benefit and our audience may not listen.  Author John Crotts shows us that God cares about how we say things and what we say.

So many times we hear that we should treat others as we would want to be treated, this applies to sharing our Christians views and when we share God's word.

This book is full of great instruction and some good It includes a  Biblical look at graciousness, with a look at positive examples and commands from not only the Bible but some good hypothetical examples that you may find yourself situated.  The author also gives methods for cultivating graciousness in various areas of the Christian life.

The methods taught in this book can be used at any time we have conversations with others, it is full of good wisdom.

The author was easy to follow, full of scripture and the book didn't take long to read.

Psalms and Proverbs Devotional for women

For over 40 years Mrs. Patterson has focused on teaching women what God has to say to them.  This devotional does just that. Using the books of Psalms and Proverbs Mrs. Patterson and Rhonda take us through a year of these two books.  This devotional features relevant discussions for the woman today, focusing on the challenges one might find day to day.    Every day women are searching for wisdom and answers that are way beyond themselves, what better books than Psalms and Proverbs hold the wisdom and answers we are looking for. to help them with daily living.
Each day's message features an application and of course the encouragement that we may need.   This devotional is written by both married and single ladies all under the direction of Mrs. Patterson.

In this devotional, it teaches us how to pattern a personal quiet time, and also a Bible reading plan which will guide the reader through the books of Proverbs and Psalms every month.

Every day you will find the scripture for the day, a small, insightful message, and room to write down your thoughts.

This beautiful teal colored devotional is the perfect size to take anywhere; it has a bonded leather hardcover for stability.  This means that it will hold up for many years of reading it daily.

I do like that the devotional starts as "day one" rather than January 1 st, so you can start anytime and reread as much as your heart desires.

I have had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Patterson and sitting under her teaching.  She is both amazing and motivating.

A Song of Home

A Song of Home is the third novel in the Pearl Spence series In this novel we find Pearl living in Bliss with her father and Ray, leaving the thoughts of Red River Oklahoma and her mama far behind her.

Pearl settles into a new routine of school, helping Aunt Carrie at the farm, hanging out with Ray or getting lost in a good book and then Opal shows her how to dance.  But things change when Mama comes home unexpectedly and pregnant!  It isn’t the happy return that Pearl had wished for.

This is a delightful story of the great depression and the swing era.   In this novel deals with a  couple of issues; one is forgiveness and the other is the racial conflict that was happening at that time.

This book teaches us to reach out with love and to treat others as we would want to be treated;  whether we are poor, the color of our skin or the choices we have made in life.

The author has an ability to bring the characters to life and make you feel like you are right there amongst the characters.   Ms. Finkbeiner has done a brilliant job bringing the characters to life.  I love how she writes the story through Pearl's eyes and makes us realize that our actions have consequences, our children watch what we do and how we react.

A very good book and a great ending to this series.  This novel can be read alone by itself, but I highly recommend that the whole series be read.
